Reach clients on Telegram with @Setvos_bot or your own bot
Send confirmations and reminders to clients on Telegram for free — through @Setvos_bot from the first day, or through your own bot with booking inside the chat.
@Setvos_bot works from the first day
You set nothing up. The booking confirmation email and the page where a client manages the booking offer a Telegram link. A client who opens it links @Setvos_bot, and your confirmations, reminders and cancellations reach them there, headed with your name. Telegram messages are free and do not use your SMS allowance.
Switch it off if you prefer
In Messaging (SMS), open the “Automations” tab. The card “Reminders through the Setvos bot” has the “Use the Setvos bot” switch; it stays on unless someone who can change messaging settings turns it off. While it is off, the booking confirmation no longer offers @Setvos_bot, and clients who linked it get your messages by the next channel instead, such as a text. Campaigns and automations never go through @Setvos_bot either way.
Connect your own bot
Your own bot carries your name and can also send campaigns and automations. In Telegram, open @BotFather, send /newbot and answer its questions; it gives you a bot token.
Then open Integrations › Messaging, press “Connect” on Telegram, paste the “Bot token” and press “Connect”. The “Bot username” fills in by itself when Telegram can be reached. Where it is offered, the workspace owner can instead press “Create your Telegram bot” on the Telegram row: Telegram opens in a new tab, you choose the bot’s name there, you own the bot, and Setvos connects it here by itself. It needs your own Telegram linked to @Setvos_bot first, and only the owner can do it; anyone who can change settings can still paste a token. A bot created this way shows “Rotate token”, which gets a new token from Telegram and stops the old one. Set your own privacy policy for your bot in @BotFather: the bot is yours.
Check that Telegram accepted it
Under the Telegram row you should see “Client messages arrive here” and “The menu button opens your booking page”. If a line is red instead, press “Update credentials” and save the token again to retry.
Let clients book inside the chat
Your bot’s menu button opens your booking page inside Telegram. From now on the booking confirmation offers your bot instead of @Setvos_bot, and a client who books or links there hears from your bot. Clients who linked @Setvos_bot before keep getting confirmations and reminders there until they link your bot, or until “Use the Setvos bot” is switched off. The menu button opens your business: the client’s visits with you first, then your places. For your profile or channel, share your bot’s link with ?start=book at the end, such as t.me/studio_bot?start=book: the bot answers it with a “Book” button that opens the same page.
Buttons under a reminder
A reminder on Telegram, from your own bot or @Setvos_bot, carries “I’ll be there”, “Reschedule” and “Cancel”; the booking confirmation carries “Reschedule” and “Cancel”. These two open the booking’s own page, “Cancel” at its cancel confirmation, where your deposit rules apply.
“I’ll be there” marks the visit “Confirmed by the client” with the time: a tick appears on it in the diary, the person doing it gets a notice in the bell, the action is recorded on Settings › Audit log, and the button disappears. It works only from the client’s own chat and while the visit is still booked and ahead; otherwise the client reads “This visit is no longer booked”. Moving the visit clears the tick.
Read their messages, respect /stop
What a client writes to your bot or to @Setvos_bot arrives in your Inbox if your workspace uses the Inbox, and your reply goes back to Telegram. A client who sends /stop to your bot turns off your messages in that chat; /stop to @Setvos_bot turns off reminders from every business that uses it. Their reminders then come by the next channel, such as a text.
Your team’s own Telegram is separate
Staff link their own Telegram to @Setvos_bot at Account settings › Telegram, to add leads and tasks from a chat and receive their notices there.
Common questions
- Do Telegram messages cost anything?
No. They are free for you and your clients, and they do not use your SMS allowance.
- What if a client blocks the bot?
When Telegram cannot deliver a message, the client gets it by the next channel instead — WhatsApp or Viber if you connected them, otherwise a text. A campaign is the exception: it is not sent again as a text, and its history says the client could not be reached on Telegram.
- Can I connect Telegram on the phone?
Yes: paste a bot token from BotFather, or, as the workspace owner, press “Create your Telegram bot”, which opens Telegram; anyone else reads that only the workspace owner can create the bot. Your own bot always wins over @Setvos_bot. Creating it needs a connection.
