Deals · How-to
Add a deal
Create a deal with a title, a value, a client and an owner, and put it in the right pipeline and stage from the start.
Open the form
On Deals, press “New deal”. If the button is not there, your role does not allow creating deals.
Name it and give it a value
“Title” is the only field you must fill. Type the value in the amount field, whose label shows your workspace’s currency; it is what the totals at the top of each column add up.
Say when you expect it to close
Pick a date in “Expected close”. It shows on the deal’s card on the board.
Choose where it starts
If you have more than one pipeline, “Pipeline” starts on the one you are looking at; choose another if the deal belongs there. In “Stage”, pick the column it starts in, or leave it on “First open stage”. The deal is created in the pipeline you chose.
Link the client
In “Contact”, search for the client by name, phone or email and pick them, or leave “No contact”. If the client belongs to a company, the deal counts toward that company’s open deals.
Choose who works on it
“Owner” starts on you. The list holds the people your role lets you give a deal to: everyone with “All records”, the people in your teams with “Own team”. When your role only lets you keep deals yourself, the field is not shown.
Fill in your own fields
Deal fields your workspace has added appear at the bottom of the form. An owner or admin manages them in Settings › Fields.
Save
Press “Create deal”. The deal’s page opens.
Common questions
- Can I change the stage with “Edit”?
Not within its pipeline. “Edit” changes the title, amount, expected close, client, owner and your own fields; move the deal to another stage on the board, or with the stage menu at the top of its page. With more than one pipeline, “Edit” also has “Pipeline”: choose another one and its “Stage” appears, so the deal moves to that pipeline when you save.
- Why is the client I want not in “Contact”?
The search offers only clients your role lets you see. Type more of their name, phone or email to narrow it; if they are still not there, add them in Contacts first.
- How do I add a deal on the phone?
Press + in Deals, or New deal on a client’s record, which links the client. Give it a title, then the amount and currency, the expected close, the client, company, owner, the pipeline when you have several, the stage and custom fields. A new deal starts at the first open stage of the pipeline you are looking at, and a lost stage asks why.
