Keep a record for each company you work with
Group the people you deal with under their company, see each company’s open deals, and let new clients file themselves by their email domain.
Open the companies list
Open Contacts › Companies, or choose “Companies” at the top of the client list (under the ⋯ button on a phone). Each row shows the company, how many people you have there, the value of its open deals and its tags. Above the list, “Accounts” counts the companies and “Open pipeline” adds up the open deals of those shown.
Add a company
Press “New company” and fill in “Company name”. If the company has its own email domain, such as acme.ua, put it in “Email domain”. Add an email, phone, address and notes as you like, and tags in “Tags”, separated by commas. Then press “Save”.
Let clients file themselves
A client whose email is on a company’s domain is filed under that company when you create them, and so is a client with no company yet who is given such an email later. Free mail such as gmail.com never matches, so private clients are never lumped together. A new client with no email, or with free mail, is filed under a company whose name is exactly what you typed in their “Company”.
Let deals follow
A deal created for a client who belongs to a company counts toward that company’s open deals.
Find a company
Search by name, domain, email or phone with “Search companies…”, and filter by your workspace’s own company fields if it has any.
Common questions
- Can two companies use the same email domain?
No. A domain already used by one company is refused on another. If they are the same company, merge them.
- I changed the company on a client’s card. Why did nothing move?
The “Company” on a client’s card is a label. A client is filed under a company when they are created, or when a client with no company yet is given an email on its domain; after that, merging two companies moves people from one to the other.
- Where are companies on the phone?
In the Clients tab, press Companies. People who can see deals get the tiles Accounts and “Open pipeline”, with a figure for each currency. Search by name or domain; each row shows the domain, the people, a tag and the pipeline. + adds a company: its name, email domain, email, phone, address, notes and custom fields. On an iPad the company opens beside the list.
