Create a campaign

Write the message, choose the channel and the audience, check how many clients it will reach, and save it as a draft ready to send.

  1. 01

    Open a new campaign

Open Campaigns and press “New campaign”; the button is there only if your role can create campaigns. The form has two cards, “Content” and “Audience”, and an “Estimated reach” card beside them.

  2. 02

Name it and choose the channel

“Campaign name” is for you; clients never see it. Under “Channel” pick “Email”, “Cheapest that reaches”, “Telegram”, “WhatsApp” or “SMS”. The line under the field says whom that channel reaches or how it is billed.

  3. 03

    Write the message

For email, fill in “Email subject” and “Body”. Every other channel has no subject, and the body is limited to 480 characters; the counter under it turns red when you go over.

The merge tags {{firstName}}, {{lastName}} and {{company}} are replaced with each client’s details. Links in an email are tracked for you, and a link to unsubscribe is added to every message automatically, at the end of the text. An email also takes a heading, a preview line, one image — PNG or JPEG, up to 1 MB and 1,200 pixels wide, with a description — and one button, which opens your booking page unless you give it a link. The preview beside it shows the email light or dark, at desktop or phone width.

  4. 04

    Link to your booking page

Put {{booking_link}} in the message to link to your booking page. An email gets the page itself; a text or a Telegram message gets a short setvos.com/m/ link to it, which counts as part of the text. Every booking made through that link is counted on this campaign: the figure “Bookings” on its results.

With one place the link opens that place’s page. With several, a “Booking page” field appears under the text once you use the tag: choose the place whose page it opens. The link needs an open place; you set up places and the page under Bookings › Places and Bookings › Public page. The tag is offered only if your role can see bookings.

  5. 05

Check the sender of an email

Leave “From name” and “Reply-to email” empty to use the defaults from “Sender settings”, or fill them in to send this one campaign under another name or with replies going to another address. These two fields appear only for an email.

  6. 06

    Choose the audience

Under “Saved audience”, pick an audience you saved earlier. Or keep “Conditions on this campaign”, tick one or more “Tags” and choose a “Last activity” period: a client with any of the ticked tags is included, and the period keeps only clients with something new on their card’s timeline in that time. With no tag ticked and “Any time”, every client is included.

  7. 07

    Check the estimate

“Estimated reach” updates as you change things. It shows how many clients the campaign reaches, how many on each channel, how many matched but cannot be reached, and, for texts, how many SMS of your allowance the send will use and how many are left this month, counted as the texts go out, with the unsubscribe link each one ends with. The line turns red when the send would not fit. On your own SMS gateway or WhatsApp account it shows the text segments instead, which your own account pays for.

  8. 08

    Save the draft

Press “Save draft”. The campaign opens on its own page, where you send it or schedule it. Nothing goes out until you do.

Common questions

Why did the subject field disappear?

Only an email has a subject. When you choose any other channel the field is hidden, because a text message has nowhere to show it.

Can I change the audience after saving?

Yes, as long as the campaign is still a draft. Open it, change the audience and press “Save draft” again. A scheduled campaign has to be unscheduled first.

Why can’t I change anything on a campaign?

Either it is scheduled, and its page says so with an “Unschedule” button that makes it a draft again; or it has already been sent; or your role lets you see campaigns but not edit them, in which case the fields are greyed out and there are no buttons to save or send.

How do I write a campaign on the phone?

In Setvos Business, Campaigns lists every campaign with its channel, status, how many were sent, the open and click rates and the bookings; the Bookings figure is left out for people who cannot see bookings. Press + for “New campaign”: a name, the channel, a subject for email, and the message. Tap a tag to put in {{firstName}}, {{lastName}}, {{company}} or {{booking_link}}; each client gets their own, and an unsubscribe or stop link is added automatically. With more than one place, choose which booking page the link opens. Touch and hold a campaign to Duplicate it, Archive a sent one or delete a draft.
