Invoicing · How-to

Change a draft invoice

Edit the client, dates, lines, tax and discount of an invoice that has not been sent yet.

  1. 01

    Find the draft

Open Invoicing and filter the status by “Draft”. Only a draft can be changed.

  2. 02

    Press “Edit”

Open the invoice and press “Edit” among the actions at the top; on a phone it is behind the ⋯ button. A sent invoice has no “Edit”: if you open its edit page anyway, you are taken back to the invoice.

  3. 03

    Make your changes

Everything from the new-invoice form can be changed. If you try to leave with unsaved changes, Setvos asks before throwing them away.

  4. 04

    Save

Press “Save changes”. The invoice keeps its number, and the PDF is made again from the new lines the next time you download or send it.

Common questions

How do I change an invoice that was already sent?

You cannot edit it, because the client already has it. Issue a credit note for the difference, or void it and create a new one.

Can I delete a draft instead?

Yes, if your role allows it: “Delete” on the draft removes it for good, after you confirm. Sent invoices cannot be deleted, only voided.

Can I edit an invoice on the phone?

Only a draft. A sent invoice says “Only drafts can be edited.” Leaving the form with changes asks whether to keep editing or discard them.
