Sort products into categories
Create, rename and remove the categories that group your catalogue, so lists, counts and stock takes can go a shelf at a time.
Open categories
In Products, press “Categories”. The window lists each category with how many products it holds.
Add a category
Type a name in “New category” and press “Add”. Two categories cannot share a name.
Rename one
Press the edit button beside a category, change the name and save it. Its products follow the new name.
Remove one
Press the delete button and confirm with “Delete”. The products stay in the catalogue, uncategorised. Adding and renaming need a role that can edit products; the delete button is there only for roles that can delete them.
Put products in it
Open a product, choose its “Category” and press “Save changes”.
Common questions
- Where do categories help?
In a stock take you can count one category at a time instead of the whole warehouse, and the catalogue is easier to read.
- Can I manage categories on the phone?
Yes: Categories in Products adds, renames and deletes them. Deleting a category leaves its products in the catalogue, without a category.
