Loyalty & gift cards · How-to

Set up the points program

Choose how many points clients earn, what a point is worth, the tiers and their discounts, the referral reward, whether points expire and whether you sell gift cards on your booking page.

  1. 01

    Open the program

Open Loyalty & gift cards; the “Program” tab shows the “Points program” card. Only a role that can change loyalty settings sees the save button.

  2. 02

    Keep the program active

“Program active” must be on for clients to earn points. Turning it off pauses the program for everyone and keeps every balance: visits and invoices from while it was off never earn points later, tiers give no discount at the till, referral rewards wait until it is back on, and points do not age towards expiry. Clients can still spend the points they hold.

  3. 03

Sell gift cards online, if you want

“Sell gift cards on your booking page” lets anyone buy a gift card on your booking page and pay online; the code and a printable voucher go to the buyer by email. It needs a payment gateway, connected on Integrations › Payments: until then the switch cannot be turned on and says “Connect a payment gateway on Integrations first.” The cards sold are listed on Loyalty & gift cards › Gift cards.

  4. 04

Set the earn rate and the value of a point

The first field sets how many points a client earns for each unit of your currency they spend: 1 means one point per unit. “Redemption value” is the discount one point gives when it is spent at the till. With a value of 0, points cannot be spent.

  5. 05

    Set the referral reward

“Referral reward (points)” is what a client earns when someone they recommended comes in. It applies to referrals you add from now on.

  6. 06

    Set the tiers

Under “Tier thresholds”, enter the lifetime spend a client needs to reach Silver, Gold and Platinum. A client’s tier is worked out again each time they earn points, so a new threshold reaches them at their next visit or paid invoice. A tier does not change how many points a client earns.

  7. 07

Give tiers a discount, if you want

Under “Tier perks at checkout”, enter a discount percentage for each tier. While the program is active, it comes off the services at the till on its own, after any membership discount, so the two never add up. Zero leaves a tier as recognition only.

  8. 08

    Decide whether points expire

Under “Points expiry”, “Expire after (months)” sets how long points last after a client’s last points activity; 0 means they never expire. “Remind (days before)” sets how many days ahead the client is sent a message that their points are about to lapse.

  9. 09

    Save

Press “Save program”. The new settings apply from now on; points already earned stay as they are.

Common questions

What counts as activity for expiry?

Earning, spending or an adjustment of points, and a referral reward. Each one restarts the client’s expiry clock.

Can I change the loyalty programme on the phone?

Yes, with the loyalty settings permission: the programme on or off, the points per unit spent and the value of one point, the tier thresholds and their discounts at the till, the referral reward in points, points expiry and its reminder, and selling gift cards on your booking page, which needs a payment gateway.
