Onboarding: questions and answers

Short answers about reopening a checklist, changing tasks, who ticks them, deleting, what happens when someone leaves, and how Onboarding fits with People.

Common questions

If I untick a task, does the checklist reopen?

Yes. It goes back to “In progress” until every task is ticked again. The person's status stays as it is.

Can I add a task to one person's checklist?

No. Tasks come from the template. To change what future hires get, edit the template.

Are tasks assigned to someone?

No. A checklist belongs to the new hire, and anyone whose role can edit Onboarding can tick its tasks.

Can I delete a template or a checklist?

No. Edit a template to change what future hires get. A finished checklist leaves “In progress” and stays under “All”, marked “Completed”.

Which new records does the automation cover?

Every new employee record gets a checklist, whether it was added on People, from a member on Settings › Members or by hiring a candidate in Recruitment.

What happens to a checklist when someone leaves?

Setting them to Offboarded closes a checklist still running for them: it leaves “In progress” and stays under “All”, marked “Closed (left)”, with its tasks as they were, so you can still see what was done. It is read-only from then on: nobody can tick or untick its tasks.

Does Onboarding need People switched on?

Yes. Checklists belong to employee records.
