Change someone’s role or access

Give a member a different role, grant or take away one permission just for them, and check what they can actually do.

  1. 01

    Open the person

In Settings › Members, press the person’s row. Their details open at the side, with their two-factor status and when they were last active.

  2. 02

    Change the role

Choose a new “Role”. It applies straight away. Only an owner can make someone an owner, or change another owner’s role or overrides: an admin does not see Owner in the list.

  3. 03

    Add an override

Under “Overrides”, pick a module, an action and “Grant” or “Revoke”, then press “Add”. An override applies to this person only and wins over their role. The button beside it removes it again.

  4. 04

    Check the result

“Effective access” lists what the person can do in each module, marking what comes from an override.

  5. 05

    Connect their HR record

If the People module is on, “Employee record” links to their HR record, or offers “Create employee record” if they have none and your role allows it.

Common questions

Can I set a member’s overrides on the phone?

Yes: a member’s sheet shows their effective access, and the overrides change it, with the result shown as you go.
